Out of the total earnings of Rs. 7477.30 crore from commodity-wise
freight traffic during the month of April 2013, Rs. 3420.74 crore
generated from transportation of 42.96 million tonnes of coal, followed
by Rs. 604.13 crore from 8.90 million tonnes of iron ore for exports,
steel plants and for other domestic user, Rs. 748.94 crore from 9.27
million tonnes of cement, Rs. 729.94 crore from 4.62 million tonnes of
foodgrains, Rs. 426.18 crore from 3.33 million tonnes of petroleum oil
and lubricant (POL), Rs. 435.08 crore from 2.72 million tonnes of Pig
iron and finished steel from steel plants and other points, Rs. 195.63
crore from 2.06 million tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 124.68 crore from
1.39 million tonnes of raw material for steel plants except iron ore,
Rs. 333.43 crore from 3.25 million tonnes by container service and Rs.
458.55 crore from 5.18 million tonnes of other goods.
