Haridwar/ Dehradun:(Page3 News Network)Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna reviewing the development works of Haridwar and Uttarkashi districts at Mela Control Room, Haridwar on Saturday directed the officers to complete all development related works in three months and present progress report every seven days.
Mr. Bahuguna during the meeting made several announcements including upgradation of Roorkee to Nagar Nigam, authority of setting up 10 hand pumps each to MLAs, beautification of Panchleshwar Mahadev Temple and increment in the rents of shops under Nagar Nigam. He also announced for construction of roads at Haridwar, Manglore-Danda Bhaneri, Bhandawali, Harchand, Tehri rehabilitation colony, Subashnagar, Jwalapur slum colony, repair of damaged bridges at Roshanabad Stadium, Hasnawala, construction of hospital at Tehri Rehabilitation Colony and construction of bridge at Satiwala, Old Haridwar. He also announced repair and renovation of internal roads at Piran Kaliyar with the budget of Rs. 80.95 lakh, reconstruction and renovation of various roads at Dargah areas with the budget of Rs. 89.35 lakh and construction of roads at SC majority areas with the budget of Rs. 64.80 lakh.
Reviewing the Power Department, Chief Minister Bahuguna issued directives to resolve power problems by organizing camps. He also instructed to conduct raids but not to trouble poor and install meters on war footing as per the demands made by the consumers. He asked the officers to visit rural areas and work without any fear or pressure.
Earlier, Mr. Bahuguna chaired the meeting of area MLAs and learnt about the problems existing in their areas and assured them to do the needful at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain too reviewed the meeting of development works. Expressing his satisfaction over the expenditure of funds allocated under District Plan directed the officers to further expedite the expenditure. He asked the officer concerned to make provision of budget for Kanwad Mela jointly with Char Dham Yatra. Expressing his dissatisfaction over shortage of staff in Jal Nigam, he asked the MD to appoint workers on rotation system.
Also present in the meeting was Union Minister Harish Rawat, Transport Minister Surendra Rakesh, MLA Vijay Pal Sajwan, Principal Secretaries DK Kotia, Rakesh Sharma, S Ramaswami, K Deshraju and other senior officers.
