Time comes to liberate Gujarat from divisive politics: PM


Vansada(Page3 News Network)-Leaders of major political parties are addressing series of public meetings in Gujarat with only two days left for campaigning for the first phase of Assembly elections in the State.
The Prime Minister says time has come to liberate Gujarat from divisive politics. Addressing a public meeting at Vansada in Gujarat, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the Centre has been getting regular complaints that minorities and few other segments of the society are feeling insecure in the State. He said Gujarat's development is only for a few people and benefits of Central Government schemes are not reaching to every one. He accused the State Government of having failed on several fronts including progress of tribals, Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes community.
The Prime Minister said Gujarat has not been able to spend a large amount of Centre's fund sent for employment generation in rural areas.
The State Chief Minister, Narendra Modi rebutted Dr. Singh's observations saying the State Government is working for six crore people of the state without any bias towards any caste or religion. He accused Dr. Manmohan Singh of indulging vote bank politics. Mr. Modi was addressing public meetings at Vagara and Selamba.
BSP Supremo Mayawati severely criticised the BJP Government in Gujarat and Congress Government at the Centre for ignoring development of Dalits. Addressing a public meeting at Rajkot in Saurashtra, Ms. Mayawati said that the people of Schedule Cast and Schedule Tribe in Gujarat have remained undeveloped during the present BJP rule.
