Annual Conference of Relief Commissioners/ Secretaries, Department of
disaster Management of States/ UTs will be held on 14th May, 2013 in New
Delhi to review the status of preparedness of dealing with crisis
situations resulting from the South-West Monsoon, 2013 and to discuss
other disaster management related issues. State Governments/ UT
Administrations are the first responders in case of any disaster.
Representatives of concerned Central Ministries/ Organizations rendering
Emergency Support Functions will also participate besides
representatives of Central Armed Police Forces.
The Conference will be inaugurated by Shri R.K. Singh, Union Home Secretary and will be presided over by Shri A.K. Mangotra, Secretary (Border Management), Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will make presentations on the issues related to Disaster Management in the county. The other agencies i.e. India Meteorological Department, National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, National Disaster Management Authority, Central Water Commission, Geological Survey of India, National Disaster Response Force and Ministry of Defence will also make presentations relating to the role of their organization for preparedness and further enhancement of the capacity to deal with disasters.
