The
Minister of Culture Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch has said that due to certain factors such as pressure of
urbanization, commercialization, development projects, changing climatic and
geographical conditions, 35 monuments/sites in the country including 12 in
Delhi are reported to be untraceable.
The list of such untraced monuments is at Annexure.
In a
written reply in the Rajya Sabha today she said, since the protected boundaries
in case of missing monuments cannot be fixed, it is not possible to determine
the prohibited and regulated areas and hence it is not possible to impose the
restrictions as per the law.
