Delhi gangrape case: Govt constitutes enquiry commission headed by Rtd.Justice Usha Mehra


New Delhi:(Page3 News Network)-Government today constituted a Commission of Enquiry to look into various aspects of the gangrape of the 23 year-old paramedic in a moving bus on December 16th. Retired Justice Usha Mehra will head the commission.
The commission will suggest ways to make Delhi safer for women. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi,Finance Minister, P.Chidambaram said that the commission has been asked to submit its report within three months.
The commission will identify lapses on the part of the police among other things. Mr. Chidambaram asserted that the government will do everything to ensure safety and security of women.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram today said that the condition of the gangrape victim continues to be critical and she continues to be on ventilator support. He said, her condition continues to fluctuate and she gets slightly better at times. In reply to a question by the media on taking her for medical treatment abroad, Mr. Chidambaram said, doctors attending to her are of the opinion that she is not in a condition to be moved. Mr. Chidambaram said, the government is deeply anguished by the incident and joins others in praying for her recovery.
