Northern India in grip of cold wave


New Delhi:(Page3 News Network)-The cold wave continues to sweep northern India. In Uttar Pradesh, there is no let-up in the cold wave sweeping the state for the past eight days. At least 10 people have succumbed to intense cold during the past 24 hours. With this, the death toll in the current cold wave spell has risen to over 40. 
In the national capital, people today witnessed mist and shallow fog in the morning. The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.2 degree celsius, two notches above normal, while the maximum yesterday settled at 18.3 degree celsius, two degree below normal. The MeT department has forecast a mainly clear sky today with mist in the evening. 
Foggy weather conditions continue to prevail in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. This has affected rail and road traffic in the region. Amritsar in Punjab remained the coldest with 6.8 degree celcius whereas Narnaul in Haryana recorded a minimum of 2.2 degree C. 
Rajasthan is also in the grip of cold wave with Churu being the coldest place at a minimum of 3.7 degree Celsius.
