Chief Minister Vijay
Bahuguna has paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his
death anniversary.
In his message on the eve of his death anniversary, the chief minister
said Rajiv Gandhi was an efficient administrator and a far-sighted
politician who gave new direction to the nation.
He
said he played a crucial role in the sphere of IT, Panchayati Raj and rural
development.
Bahuguna said that by
giving 18 year olds the right to vote, Gandhi brought them into the mainstream
and inculcated leadership qualities in them. Youth could then contribute to the
process of development.
He said
Rajiv Gandhi had laid down his life for the country. “By fighting against
terrorism strongly, we can give him the best tribute.”
