Chief
Minister Vijay Bahuguna said today that
the proposed Coca Cola plant in Chharba village would be given final approval
only after it was confirmed that it would not have an adverse impact on the
local environment.
He said a committee of environment experts
would examine this. He said this when a delegation of residents of Chharba met
him at his residence and expressed apprehensions.
The CM said the government would ensure
that the residents’ welfare was not affected .He said no decision would be taken on the basis of mere
apprehensions. Facts would be checked by experts.
He said peoples’ participation was essential
for development .He said that the MoU
with Coca Cola had promised employment to 1200 local people and youth would be trained by the company, if
required.The company had also promised to give Rs.20 crore to the state
government every year for development.
He said environmental norms of Central Government
would have to be fulfilled by the company.
The Delegation included Vipul jain,
K.Jaswal, Munna Khan, Master Nanak, Praveen Kumar ,Baldev Singh and Kultar
Singh.
