The first meeting of the
governing body of the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium was held today
at ONGC under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna.
This stadium is being built in Raipur with the help of
ONGC.
Its
foundation was laid on November
15, 2012.
The meeting
discussed design consultants for the stadium, its budget, investments etc.
A 9 member executive committee will be
constituted for the project .The chairman of the committee will be secretary
(sports) and CEO will be the member secretary.The CEO will be appointed from
the open market.Four members of Uttarakhand government and four from ONGC will
be part of the committee.The Uttarakhand government has made the sports Secretary,
Sports Director, Additional Secretary (finance) and DM, Dehradun the members of
the committee.
ONGC said its four members would be
nominated soon. It was decided that the governing body would monitor the Ice
Skating rink, the cricket stadium and all other facilities.
Soon, the services of Project
Management Committee would be taken and a DPR will be made by July end.
The CM said that with the
stadium becoming operational, Dehradun will make its place on the international
sports map. Besides cricket, other sports will also be encouraged at the
stadium. It will be a platform for the sportspersons of the state.
He said international matches besides IPL and
Ranji tournaments will be held at the stadium. He instructed the officials to
complete the project timely.
