18lakh UP govt employees on strike against promotion quota Bill

Lucknow:(Page3 News Network)-In Uttar Pradesh, about 18 lakh employees and officers of UP government continued their flash strike on Friday today, protesting against reservation in promotion bill presented in Rajya Sabha. President of the 'Sarvjan Hitai Sanrakshan Samiti', Shailendra Dubey, spearheading the agitation, said in Lucknow that more than 18 lakh strong workforce of the state government, barring essential services like hospitals, power and transport, started boycotting work which would continue indefinitely.
Talking to our Lucknow correspondent,Shri Dubay convenor Sarvjan Hitai Sanrakshan Samiti told that the employees will stage day-long protest meetings in various district headquarters.
The Samiti had threatened a flash strike in case the bill was not taken back. Dubey said that employee associations of various departments have asked to make strike a success across the state.
On the other hand, the reservation supporters, essentially dalit employees and officers under aegis of 'Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti' announced doing overtime to make up for the loss because of the strike. President of the association, KB Ram said that officers and employees will be doing an overtime of four hours.
